What your child learns

The same four skill pillars run from age 4 to 18. Here is what they look like in the Development phase.

  • Technical

Controlled dribbling through cones. Shooting with both feet. Heading technique. Ball mastery under light pressure.

  • Passing and Receiving

Accurate inside-foot pass. Clean first touch. Passing through a target gate. Weaker-foot passing.

  • Game Intelligence

Basic positional shape. Creating space for teammates. Communicating. Knowing when to pass or dribble.

  • Fitness and Attitude

Full effort for the whole session. Applying feedback. Tracking back. Encouraging teammates.

A typical session

Each session moves from a warm-up to the week’s technical theme, applied practice under pressure, and a game in the 5v5 to 7v7 format, finishing with a cool-down and feedback.

The Development badge journey

Four shield badges, earned in order. Badge tests run in the Skill Months, October and March.

  1. Development Green

Entry badge. Can dribble, receive and play a simple game.

  2. Development Yellow

Controlled movement and correct passing technique.

  3. Development Blue

Combines skills in game situations, both feet, defends 1v1.

  4. Development Red

Competition-ready. Leads, thinks tactically, has represented Zenith FC.

How badges are earned

Your child knows a Skill Month is coming. To earn a badge they pass 3 of the 4 tests, and Fitness and Attitude must be one of them. Development Red requires all 4.

Development Red, Performance Blue and Performance Red also require your child to have represented Zenith FC in an inter-academy or open tournament. Intra-academy tournaments are valuable match experience but do not count toward these.

Once earned, a badge is kept for good.

  • T1

Technical Skills. Ball control, dribbling, striking the ball

  • T2

Passing and Receiving. Accuracy of delivery and quality of first touch

  • T3

Game Intelligence. Decisions, position and use of space, judged in live play

  • T4

Fitness and Attitude. Work rate, stamina and coachability

How you’ll see progress

At the end of each term your child gets a Term Report Card, graded A to E across five areas with personal coach comments. After the badge tests you get a Skill Card and a WhatsApp note from the coach, and earned badges are presented at Badge Day.
