What your child learns

The same four skill pillars run from age 4 to 18. Here is what they look like in the Performance phase.

  • Technical

Technique under full match pressure. Advanced turns and feints. 1v1 skill in competitive situations. Consistent technique when tired.

  • Passing and Receiving

Long-range switches of play. First touch in tight spaces. Receiving while pressed. Accurate passing at match tempo.

  • Game Intelligence

Tactical systems and positional roles. Pressing triggers and defensive shape. Set pieces. Organising teammates.

  • Fitness and Attitude

High intensity for full matches. Composure under pressure. Leadership. Consistent commitment.

A typical session

Each session moves from a warm-up to the week’s technical theme, applied practice under pressure, and match play in the 9v9 to 11v11 format, with match debriefs and a cool-down.

The Performance badge journey

Four shield with laurel badges, earned in order. Badge tests run in the Skill Months, October and March.

  1. Performance Green

Developing Player. Entered the phase; position and focus areas identified.

  2. Performance Yellow

Established Player. Beats defenders, switches play, holds shape in 11v11.

  3. Performance Blue

Competitive Player. Ready to represent Zenith FC in competitive matches.

  4. Performance Red

The phase’s highest standard: technical mastery, leadership and mentorship.

How badges are earned

Green and Yellow: pass 3 of 4 tests. Blue and Red: pass all 4. Each badge is recorded with the player’s natural position, strongest attribute and development focus.

Development Red, Performance Blue and Performance Red also require your child to have represented Zenith FC in an inter-academy or open tournament. Intra-academy tournaments are valuable match experience but do not count toward these.

Once earned, a badge is kept for good.

  • T1

Technical Skills. Ball control, dribbling, striking the ball

  • T2

Passing and Receiving. Accuracy of delivery and quality of first touch

  • T3

Game Intelligence. Decisions, position and use of space, judged in live play

  • T4

Fitness and Attitude. Work rate, stamina and coachability

How you’ll see progress

At the end of each term your child gets a Term Report Card, graded A to E across five areas with personal coach comments. After the badge tests you get a Skill Card and a WhatsApp note from the coach, and earned badges are presented at Badge Day.
