What your child learns

The same four skill pillars run from age 4 to 18. Here is what they look like in the Foundation phase.

  • Technical

Kicking a stationary ball. Dribbling 5 metres. Stopping a rolling ball. Basic coordination.

  • Passing and Receiving

Attempting to pass to a teammate. Receiving a slow rolling ball.

  • Game Intelligence

Knowing when the ball is out of play. Moving toward the ball. Awareness of teammates in 3v3.

  • Fitness and Attitude

Showing up consistently. Staying engaged. Responding when the coach speaks. Enjoying it.

A typical session

Foundation sessions are play-based: short activity stations and games rather than instruction blocks, because children under 9 learn through play. Matches are played for enjoyment and experience; results are never used to rank young children.

The Foundation badge journey

Four circle badges, earned in order. Badge tests run in the Skill Months, October and March.

  1. Foundation Green

    “I’ve started.”

  2. Foundation Yellow

“The ball and I are friends.”

  3. Foundation Blue

    “I’m part of a team.”

  4. Foundation Red

“I’m ready for the next group.”

How badges are earned

Tests happen quietly inside normal sessions, and your child is never told a test is taking place. No child fails: every child earns all four colours; only the timing differs.

Once earned, a badge is kept for good.

  • T1

Technical Skills. Ball control, dribbling, striking the ball

  • T2

Passing and Receiving. Accuracy of delivery and quality of first touch

  • T3

Game Intelligence. Decisions, position and use of space, judged in live play

  • T4

Fitness and Attitude. Work rate, stamina and coachability

How you’ll see progress

At the end of each term your child gets a Term Report Card, graded A to E across five areas with personal coach comments. After the badge tests you get a Skill Card and a WhatsApp note from the coach, and earned badges are presented at Badge Day.
